The 2nd Polish-Brazilian Conference on Science and Technology was held on 7-8 September 2016 at the Institute of Aviation in Warsaw. This joint initiative of the Institute of Aviation and the University of Brasilia is a platform for contacts and exchanges between scientists from the aviation, space and energy sectors, as well as representatives of industry and government. This year’s conference was opened jointly by the Director of the Institute of Aviation, professor Witold Wiśniowski, and the Ambassador of Brazil in Poland, His Excellency Alfredo Leoni.

Brazil celebrates its Independence Day on September 7th, and it is on this day that began the Second Polish-Brazilian Conference on Science and Technology. The goal of the conference was to bring together and foster cooperation between universities, institutes, industry, and government agencies from both countries. This cooperation was the subject of lectures by our special guests: Minister Aleksander Bobko, Secretary of State in the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, Mr. Grzegorz Kozłowski, Director of the Americas Department in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Dr. Joanna Gocłowska-Bolek, Director of the Center of Latin American Studies at the University of Warsaw.

The conference is a forum for the exchange of ideas related to new and emerging technologies. Discussions were held around the subjects of aerospace technologies, defense and security, and energy and environment. The results of research work in these fields was presented by scientists from the organizing institutions, as well as guest speakers from: the Council of European Aerospace Societies (CEAS), PZL Mielec, the Brazilian Ministry of Defense, the Military University of Technology in Warsaw, Embraer, PGZ Polish Armaments Group, the Warsaw University of Technology, the Institute of Heat Engineering, and Medcom company.

The 2nd Polish-Brazilian Conference on Science and Technology was part of the celebrations of the 90th Anniversary of the Institute of Aviation which are held under the Honorary Patronage of the President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda.
