Representatives of Łukasiewicz Research Network – Institute of Aviation took part in the Polish Innovation and Business Week, which on 15 June 2019 in Reno was inaugurated by the President of the Republic of Poland, Andrzej Duda. The event was addressed to representatives of Polish institutions and business operating in Nevada.

The event was attended by representatives of: Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Technology, Marshal’s Office of the Lublin Voivodeship, The National Centre for Research and Development, Research Network Łukasiewicz – Institute of Aviation, Warsaw School of Economics, Maria Skłodowska-Curie University and Polish start-ups. The event was coordinated by the Office of the Governor of Nevada for Economic Development (GOED).

The Łukasiewicz Research Network – Institute of Aviation was represented by Deputy Director Sylwester Wyka and Professor Joanna Cygler, plenipotentiary for the organization of scientific research.

Nevada Global Summit

The programme of the Polish Innovation and Business Week included numerous networking events, visits to American institutions and companies and participation in the Nevada Global Summit.

An important part of the visit programme of the delegation from the Łukasiewicz Research Network – Institute of Aviation was the participation of the Deputy Director Sylwester Wyka in a discussion panel during the Nevada Global Summit. In the panel dedicated to innovation and international business, the invited guests discussed the latest developments in technology, innovation, entrepreneurship, the impact of these sectors on regional cooperation and how Nevada promotes such industries and what benefits it brings to international business.

Director Wyka presented during the panel mainly the activities of Łukasiewicz Research Network – Institute of Aviation in the field of unmanned systems, which are being tested in the state of Nevada.

During the following days, representatives of the Institute also visited the campus of Nevada University in Reno, Tesla’s giant factory and took part in the Polish Demo Night in Las Vegas, during which selected Polish start-ups presented their businesses.

It was also an opportunity to talk to the Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Enterprise and Technology, Tadeusz Kościński.

The visit to Nevada resulted in many contacts and was a great opportunity to present the capabilities of the technology developed by the Łukasiewicz Research Network – Institute of Aviation in the field of unmanned flying systems.

Numerous research and educational initiatives in this sector are being carried out in the state. Nevada is also one of the six national test areas in the United States. It is here that unmanned technologies develop dynamically, and solutions that are currently being tested are pioneering in the world.
