POLON

At the beginning of April 2020, Łukasiewicz – Institute of Aviation in a consortium with Creotech Instruments  S.A., begins the implementation of the POLON project: Polish Propulsion Module. The purpose of the project is to develop a chemical rocket propulsion for a small satellite and its integration with the Hypersat platform developed by Creotech. The Space Technology Department (STD) will be responsible for the implementation of the project on the side of Łukasiewicz – Institute of Aviation.

The project will last 3 years and will end with preparation for implementation and potential commercialization. It will also be the first chemical rocket propulsion in space, designed and built in Poland.

POLON is based on propulsion technologies developed by STD, using a green propellant – highly concentrated hydrogen peroxide. It fits into the global trend of search for and successive implementation of technologies that are an alternative to classic, toxic rocket fuels.

The project is financed by the National Centre for Research and Development under the Fast Track for Mazovia program.
