M. Faraday Research and Development Center (CBRF) established by the Energa Group, has started cooperation with the Institute of Aviation in Warsaw in the field of joint research and development projects. Thanks to this cooperation, innovative solutions that will help to provide the Group’s clients with high quality services and new products will be developed.

The aim of cooperation is to use the synergy effect achieved thanks to the combination of the potential of two leading companies in their sectors. Joint activities for the development of innovation in projects for the energy sector include, i.a., the initiation and implementation of joint research and development projects. The goal of cooperation between CBRF and the Institute of Aviation is also to reduce operating costs and introduce new technologies for everyday use.

The first stage of cooperation involves:

  • analysis of the possibilities of using autonomous drones and unmanned long-range planes in the power industry,
  • increase in the use of remote sensing and floating water turbine systems,
  • development of energy conversion and accumulation technologies.

Signing an agreement with the Institute of Aviation in Warsaw is an opportunity for us to confirm how important and necessary is the cooperation between business and scientific units that serve the development of Polish technical thought and for increase customer satisfaction. Since the beginning of this year, we have been working intensively on new projects. We have managed to establish cooperation with leading scientific institutions –  says Alicja Barbara Klimiuk, acting president of the management board of Energa S.A.

– Today the Institute of Aviation joins these institutions, whose potential we want to use, i.a. for efficient detection of failures and prevention of line failures and energy infrastructure. The rich experience of the Institute of Aviation in the use of drones or planes and in the advanced analysis of the recorded material using artificial intelligence will help here – says Marcin Karlikowski, president of the Energa CBRF.

CBRF and the Institute of Aviation will work to create a testing ground, where they will carry out tests of drones and planes equipped with optical analysis systems in visible and invisible spectrums.

– Signing a framework agreement between CBRF and the Institute of Aviation opens a new chapter in the history of our companies. The Institute has extensive experience in advanced R&D projects and in developing innovative technological solutions in many areas – says Paweł Stężycki, director of the Institute of Aviation. – I am glad that we have gained a reliable partner with which we will be able to use our knowledge and experience as well as to create and implement new solutions that will work for the benefit of society and the development of our country – he adds.

CBRF was established for implementing the Innovation Strategy adopted by Energa for the years 2017-2020, with a 2025+ perspective. The basic task of the CBRF is to initiate new projects as well as to raise money for R&D activities from external entities. CBRF is based in LINTE ^ 2 – a unique on the European scale, the most modern power engineering laboratory in Poland located by the Gdańsk University of Technology. The creation of CBRF is one of the first such initiatives in Poland.

The Institute of Aviation is the largest Polish state research institute with headquarters in Warsaw existing since 1926. The activity of the facility focuses on the provision of design, engineering and scientific services in the field of aviation and space technologies. The Institute conducts international cooperation with European Union and transatlantic countries (primarily with the American General Electric in the frame of the Engineering Design Center) in the following fields: aircraft engines, aerodynamics, aircraft constructions and materials research. The Institute of Aviation also conducts a lot of research for other industry sectors.
